ESTORIL TOP 10!

Welcome to ESTORIL! We want to share some of our favorites must-visit locations, things to do and places to eat while you are staying in this lovely region.

1. Cascais Villa

Visit the Cascais Villa for eats and drinks. Within the city, you can visit Casa das Histórias Paula Rego, one of the most significant exhibitions of the work of the Portuguese artist Paula Rego. Around the city other must-see places are the Boca do Inferno, Casa da Guia & Farol da Guia!

2. Sintra

Have you ever been to a princess castle? Surrounded by misty woodlands? Then you should go to Sintra’s Palácio da Pena! This exquisite Palace was built by D. Fernando II in the XIX century and located so that it can be seen from anywhere in Sintra Villa. Take some time to visit the Palace and the nearby gardens.

3. Belém

Take the N6 and drive along the river estuary until you reach Belém. Here you will find very interesting monuments to visit, including the CCB (Belém Cultural Centre), Navy Museum, Planetarium, and a must – Torre of Belém – a beautiful old remnant from Portuguese Discovery times with more than 500 years old!

4. Jerónimos Monastery

This monastery was built in 1496 by D. Manuel I King of Portugal in homage to his devotion to the Virgin Mary and Saint Jeronimus. Ever since it has been an architectural masterpiece and a significant part of the Portuguese culture. And since you are very close by you MUST try Pasteis de Belém. They are like Portuguese custard tarts, but according to many, much better. It will be worth to wait in line for a bit, trust us.

5. Lisbon Downtown

We encourage you to visit Lisbon Downtown on a weekday early in the morning or late into the afternoon when it’s the least busy. The most characteristic areas are Príncipe Real garden area, Alfama neighborhood, Bairro Alto neighborhood, Saint George Castle, Baixa-Chiado, Praça do Comércio. Pay attention to the buildings in Baixa-Chiado which were all built after the big earthquake that devastated Lisbon in 1755. If you’d like to know more about Lisbon History there is no better place to visit than the Lisboa Story Centre. Check it out!

Now the food! We recommend these which have been personally selected by our team and have the applause of many guests:
