LAGOS’ TOP 10!

Welcome to Lagos! We love this place so we want to share some of our favourites must-visit locations, things to do and places to eat while you are staying in Lagos’ region.

1. Praia D. Ana and Praia do Camilo

First things first! Once you’ve settled in (or maybe if you arrive earlier than 4 pm and need to wait a bit) HEAD OUT TO THE BEACH! You have the luck to be renting a house right in front of the beach. You will find Praia D. Ana right in front of the house (here). It’s a beautiful beach with lots of cliffs over the sea, connecting with the beach.

Then a bit west, in direction to Sagres you have the most beautiful (well all beaches are beautiful around here, it’s hard to choose, we know..) beach, called Praia do Camilo. Amazing cliffs enclosing a spacious sandy beach. And the best about Algarve is that the water is not that cold so head in!

2. Ponta da Piedade

Ponta da Piedade is the place where the boundaries between the sea and land are less well defined… It’s a set of cliffs built by the wind and sea through thousands and thousands of years forming multiple caves and tunnels. It now presents itself as an imponent yet graceful landscape with multiple arches hovering over the ocean. You can visit either by sea (through a guided boat visit) ou by land using the many viewpoints available. There are parking places, however, in the summer months, it might be a bit crowded. We recommend that you go early in the morning ou late in the afternoon (and see the sunset!)

3. Benagil Cave

Benagil Caves are amongst the most shared places to visit on the internet. So don’t miss it. Though it’s a 30 min drive by car you must see the grottos. Especially by boat. It´s considered one of the top caves in the world – It´s astonishing! Though it is close to the beach it is not advisable to swim there due to the strong currents, so be careful!

4. Sagres

Sagres is a small village located close to Europe’s most southwestern port. It is most known for the Cape (St. Vicent Cape) where there is an old fortress you can visit. The view is fantastic and if you stay for the breathtaking sunset.

5. Parks

For families with kids, we all know it’s sometimes difficult to keep then entertained during vacations. And not all kids are fond of beach activities. If it’s your case don’t sweat! Lagos area is well equipped with aquatic and theme parks to keep the kids (and the parents!) happy! For instance, you may visit Zoomarine, Lagos’ Zoo, Slide&Splash, Aquashow, and many others.

Now the food! We recommend these which have been personally selected by our team and have the applause of many guests:

6. Casa do Chico Zé

This restaurant especially is grilled fish. If you’re not int it then moves on tho the next one. But if you are then you’ll find here one of the best places in Lagos. The place is rustic and homy and its a typical Portuguese restaurant. Not expensive but it only serves lunch.

7. Adega da Marina

This one is a quirky restaurant. Once you enter it seems like you are in a barn and that some party is going to happen as the ceiling and the walls are all decorated. And there might be a party.. in your mouth, once you decide which fresh fish you’ll want to eat! The food is excellent of course, the ambiance of the place is something else and it’s a quick 10 min walk from the apartment, so check it out!

8. Antonio

This restaurant is a bit further from Lagos, in the Praia de Porto de Mós, but it has the most amazing view. So take the trip. It’s worth it! If you choose to eat in their covered balcony you are right on top of the beach and the seafood will taste even better while you are looking at the sea.

9. O Camilo

This restaurant is close to Praia do Camilo, so you might as well visit when you go there. The specialties are seafood so don’t skip on that! Oh, of course, cooked the Portuguese way. In the summer it is highly frequented so if you know beforehand you want to try it out book your seat with 1-2 days in advance.

10. O Cantinho Algarvio

We advise you to book it beforehand, with 1-2 days in advance. Excellent Portuguese food with nice service. Here you can find amazing seafood no doubt about that. No wonder it’s so hard to get a table without notice! And it’s right in the middle of Lagos, very close to your house.

Well above all we hope you enjoy your stay and leave feeling that you’ll be coming back! If you liked your stay and the guest support leave us a comment or follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

Enjoy!
